After completion of the 10 hour course, participants should be able to:

Apply knowledge of medical conditions with implications to driving
Assess the cognitive, visual, perceptual, behavioral and physical limitations that may impact driving performance
Integrate the clinical findings with assessment of on-road performance
Synthesize client and caregiver needs and assist in decisions about available options
Coordinate with multidisciplinary providers to provide resources related to the needs of clients.

Description: This eight-hour course prepares the health care professional with valuable information for meeting the fastest growing patient population in health care today; “Bariatrics” as a unique patient population requiring unique intervention. Present transfer & mobility challenges for those who are obese and functionally impaired while demonstrating a systematic method of progression and introduction of the “Lift Free Zone”. This provides participants the basis for establishing a “Paper Trail” for their facilities in meeting the new Federal Safe Patient Handling Standards.
