Vision, dedication, client advocacy, community service, resourceful, volunteerism. Do any of these words describe you? If so, you may have leadership qualities that are yearning to be recognized!
As an OT, you may not realize how often you use your own leadership skills to guide your clients and their families. Building on your own leadership capacity can be very helpful to you in your practice because it may enable you to implement changes that are beneficial to you and your clients in the areas that you serve.
GOTA is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn and refine your leadership skills! We have many talented volunteers who have been serving on our Board of Directors, some for many years, and some with many years of experience and wisdom. We invite all of our members to become the leaders that they hold inside, by joining us in our efforts to educate ourselves and the public, about occupational therapy and to promote ourselves in this era of change.
Are you interested in getting involved in GOTA but just don’t know what to do or how to do it? You may complete and submit our Volunteer Opportunities form. This form will be reviewed and you will be partnered with another member of our Board of Directors. As a new volunteer, you will have the opportunity to shadow and receive support from someone that will take you under their “wing” for the purpose of exposing you to the processes of GOTA, the board and it’s efforts, and to specific activities that would help you achieve your leadership goals.
