GOTA hosting at the Capitol on Thursday, January 28, 2010

The Georgia Occupational Therapy Association will be hosting a day at the Capitol on Thursday January 28th, 2010 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. We will have a table located in the South Wing of the Capitol to help raise awareness about OT.

In light of the recent healthcare debates and constant changes in both the Medicaid and Medicare programs, it is vital that we educate legislators on the benefits of OT. We must advocate for our patients and our profession to ensure that occupational therapy is not only included in all healthcare plans but adequate provisions are made for OT services. Our goal for this event is to help our members begin to establish relationships with their legislators and to make them more comfortable with engaging them and educating them about the profession of OT.

Here is what we need you to do:
1.    Make plans to be there and encourage others to go.
a.    This is also a great opportunity for non-members to see the benefits of joining GOTA.
2.    Go to www.votesmart.org put in your zip code and identify your state senators and state house legislators.

a.    We will provide you with all the tools you will need for a successful day.
4.    Meet us Thursday January 28th at 10:00am in the South Wing of the Capitol.
